Munkh Khan was the eldest son of Chingis Khan's
youngest son Tulay, who had served as temporary
ruler in the period right after Chingis Khan's
death.
Although lesser known that Chingis and Kublai
Khan, Munkh Khan is tremendously loved and
revered in Mongolia today. Munkh was a great
statesman who oversaw the increase of his empire
until it became the largest in the world at the
time. However, China with its riches beckoned,
and Munkh died in 1258 during his trip south to
conquer China.. |
