After the death of Chingis Khan, his youngest son
Tulay acted as temporary head of state until in
1228 third son Ugedei was enthroned by the Great
Assemblage held in Hudee aral on the River
Herlen.
Ugedei Khan improved the organizational form
ofthe state, finished the construction of
Karakorum City, the city begun by Chingis, and
officially made Karakorum the capital of the
Mongolian Empire. The Mongolian Secret chronicles
were completed during Ugedei's lifetime. |
